~ Poems of Love ~

The following poems have been written by me, for my husband Hamada, who suffered from Multiple Myeloma [IgG Kappa] a cancer of the plasma cells, which are found in the bone marrow. After many months of chemotherapy, contracting pneumonia twice, once given only twelve hours to live and having three bad fractures to his spine and also showing in his Pelvis, he made it to four years seven months. The Multiple Myeloma attacked his Kidneys first showing at diagnosis in May 2006 leaving Hamada only a small percentage of kidney function. He never complained, using his most amazing smile even when I knew he had severe pain. Hamada underwent a Stem Cell Transplant using his own 'harvested stem cells' . During October 2007 he spent seventeen days in the "Centre For Clinical Haematology" at Nottingham City Hospital UK. where he achieved this transplant. We had a scare at six months after transplant, when told 'the beast was back' but subsequent tests showed a partial remission. Again in early 2009 it was confirmed that Hamada was out of remission He fought again during 2010 with newer chemo type drugs. First with Velcade and then with Revlimid but to no avail. His Kidneys were failing further and Hamada chose not to have dialysis. This blog contains poems and updates, written for Hamada, telling of our life together.
Now a beautiful book has been published, see http://www.susiehemingway.com/books/
showing Hamada's personal fight against Multiple Myeloma in the first fifty 'poems of love' written by me his wife. I hope you like these poems of love and also 'our story' dedicated to Hamada, who passed away peacefully at home on 23 November 2010 after a most courageous fight against Multiple Myeloma.

Hi Susie, I wanted to let you know that I received my book. Thank you very much. It arrived in perfect condition. What a beautiful book. It is everything you promised. My daughter saw me unwrap it and wanted to see it. She started to read it and said she wished she had it when she did a project on MM for one of her college classes a month ago. She read a couple of your poems before she left for school and commented that she would have liked one. I ended up telling her that she and her sister would be getting one. I got a hug for that. Again, thank you and my God bless your support for MM and for you and Hamada. Hugs to you both.

My copy arrived safely here in South Wales today.
It is a **wonderful** book indeed, and beautifully produced.

Hi Suzie
Thank you so much for letting me read your poems. They are beautiful and obviously written from your soul. You are so talented and I wish you were publishing them for a different reason. Having read some of the poems, I feel that I've been on some of your journey with you. I haven't finished yet and will come back to you. I especially like 'I wish I could untangle you' . I remember from my 50th party, what a beautiful couple you and Hamada made and what a connection you seemed to have.
My thoughts are with you.
Mill x

Susie -- I so wish I could have the book in my hands here in Colombia, but the mail service is so terrible, I cannot make it happen now. We plan to make a trip back to the US in a few months, so I will order it for delivery when I know I can receive it. But the real point of my leaving a comment is to let you know what an impressive thing it is that you are doing/have done and how much comfort your poetry brings to so many. Congratulations on your great accomplishment!!

Congrats on your book, Susie. And for a wonderful cause, too.

I am getting weak in the knees just imagining your encounter with Mr. Sharif. You lucky girl, you.

Every poem demostrates the love, compassion and good will human being. In fact i read a wonderful poem few time ago. I really loved. That´s why i think this blog is very interesting, most of all for the people who enjoy the poems. I saw
costa rica investment opportunities recently, it was a great site and i want to share it for you.
